"In October 2018, I was diagnosed with guttate psoriasis shortly after having strep throat. I felt defeated, as this was my second time having the skin condition. The last time I had it was in 2014 and it took over 6 months for the flare to settle. I was using many ointments that my dermatologist recommended, but that was all I was using to treat it. This time, I knew that 6 months would be unbearable. The skin condition was impeding every aspect of my life. I felt humiliated to leave the house unless I was covered almost completely with clothing and makeup.

My confidence was at an all-time low. I tried many herbal medicines, anti-histamines, an immunosuppressant (Prednisone), and countless expensive topicals. All of these treatments caused no change in my skin and left me feeling hopeless. I began to see a new dermatologist who specializes in psoriasis. She recommended that I try to get some sun or UVB exposure. Immediately, I went to iTAN.

The staff were very welcoming, friendly and empathetic. They were extremely knowledgeable about each one of their beds, knowing exactly which ones were only UVB (versus UVA). They helped me to choose the most cost-efficient way to help my skin the most effective. After only a few short sessions, my skin improved dramatically. After a few weeks, almost all of my spots had disappeared. My confidence and overall quality of life had improved dramatically. Even my friends noticed the change in my attitude and outlook. Now January, I still visit iTAN every so often to keep my psoriasis in check. I am so thankful for the staff and the way they helped to improve my life. Meet Megan T.

In the Winter of 2015, I was seeing a doctor for my skin condition. After three visits and a couple of misdiagnoses, I was finally told that I have Guttate Psoriasis. Being a twenty-year-old female is challenging, adding a skin condition with the potential of covering my whole body was enough to put me over the edge. Guttate Psoriasis appears as small red, itchy, scaly dots that cluster together anywhere on the body.

Just so you know, Psoriasis cannot be cured, it can only be managed. It is also genetically inherited and can appear at any age. A severe case of strep throat had triggered a flare-up all over my body. A week later, a dermatologist suggested I get more sun. Sadly, it was the middle of my university studies, so I could not head off on a tropical vacation. After realizing this, the dermatologist suggested indoor tanning. At the time of my diagnosis, I had just moved into an apartment across the street from an iTan location. I now realize that this was a blessing in disguise.

I can confidently say that I have iTan to thank for my improvement. In every way possible, they went above and beyond to ensure that every visit was an 11/10 experience. From the very beginning, I was greeted with a warm welcome. The consultant asked if I was a new client. When I told her that I was, she came from around the counter and introduced herself. Before even explaining the services and packages, she gave me a tour of the salon. While doing so, she asked if I was tanning for a particular reason. I appreciate that she asked me this in a safe, private space, in case it was a personal matter. After explaining my battle with Psoriasis, she provided the best recommendations for treatment.

I initially chose iTan because of my skin condition. I continue to choose iTan for its incredible selection of services, professional staff, welcoming atmosphere, and well-maintained equipment. Behind the scenes is a team of dedicated professionals that work hard to ensure every client is getting the best experience possible. I have since moved from Ottawa, but I continue to make visiting iTan a priority when I return to the city.
